i had a meeting with A, creative director of FM. we had discussed about our future show which will be featuring contemporary sculptures. they are obviously an art piece but more likely to be a permanent feature of one’s house. in other words, sculptures into a branch of interior design which i would really like to try.

visited JCCC this afternoon to introduce this amazing guy, Ryo AMBE who road his bicycle across Canada (coast to coast) to thank everyone. he has made donations to the JCCC Fund for Japan earthquake and Tsunami relief. the donated money was received from people he met during his trip. it impressed me in two ways, one is there are people still thinking and caring about Japan. second is this honest guy here stopping at every region’s Consulate General of Japan to donate all the money.

we all gathered and went to Korean BBQ joint on Yonge and College for dinner. i had three pint of Sapporo -taste a little bit different than the original, and then i passed out.

the reason why i bought a bunch of books today is because it’s on sale, buy 3 get 4th free. The World Biggest Bookstore at Dundas is no longer the biggest, but the store has no leaking -i don’t need a big bathtub but it should not be leaking.

watched Bill Cunningham New York at Bloor cinema. a heart warming, interesting and sometimes hilarious documentary about 80+ New York Times photographer.

today, June 21, is the summer solstice in the North America — a day with 15 hours, 11 minutes and 5 seconds of nothing but potential sunshine.

my studio/workspace’s owner and his company host a summer solstice party today. i honoured to have contributed as residence artist with my artwork displaying like a little retrospective show style.
people say I am lucky having a studio/ workspace for free as I am lucky having a Hollywood’s celeb girl. it’s Not as glamorous as you’d think! although, i can’t stop paying respect to his hospitality and passion for supporting artists because it’s not the 50′s anymore -ain’t no patrons anymore. artists must survive in this environment and must evolve if they are to remain in existence.

installed a series of small framed work entitled Life Lessons. you won’t harm the wall too much if you install a line of balsa or plywood block behind the frame. It also help for level, getting it straight.

he stood twenty feet from me, conducted a movement of Mahler’s Symphony 5.

tonight was a TSO’s one of late night concert series featuring Mahler’s Symphony 5 as part of the Toronto Luminato festival with a 10:30pm start time. and this was my first time to see the concert conducted by current Music director Peter Oundjian -he will become the Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 2012.
once I watched a documentary film called ‘Five Days in September’ a couple of years ago. the orchestra had financial problems before Oundjian came. he rushes around from television to radio interviews, to orchestra rehearsals. his energy is so impressive.
tonight i came to the concert to see Mr. Oundjian and himself.
so we booked front row tickets, right wing of the stage. i know it isn’t the best seats for classical music concert, but my point was different. we could see the conductor’s right hand side of face from only 20 ft away which was singularly exciting to me. he was like the captain of the ship sailing ocean of classical symphony and his face told his crew, the orchestra they were still in serious trouble. he was keeping that tension for whole two hours. then suddenly his face brightened. the journey is over. he flashed us a huge smile, full of visible relief.
